Veteran playback singer P Jayachandran bagged the Kerala government highest honour for lifetime contribution to the Malayalam industry prestigious J C Daniel Award.

The honour comprises a citation, purse of 5 Lakh (INR), cultural affairs minister Saji Cheriyan stated. CM Pinarayi Vijayan will honour the award on December 23.

Jayachandran made his debut in the Malayalam movie industry in 1965 and has sung around 10,000 songs in various regional languages.
