Ambalappuzha Vijayakrishna 57-year-old temple elephant died due to negligence by the TDB officials and its mahouts. Huge protests happening by the people following the death of the popular elephant owned by the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB). The agitators, animal lovers and devotees alleged that the elephant was unwell and wasn’t taking food properly for few days. Despite the health condition, TDB authorities granted permission to be part of the paraded in temple festival at various places.
Police stated the people withdrew the protest late evening after TDB president N Vasu and other officials assured that stringent action would be taken against those who haven’t been committed to following the rules and have responsibility for the death of the pachyderm.
