Agali, a sunflower farming in Kunnachala at Attappadi is an abode of opportunity says Palanisamy Gounder. The flowers are giving a visual treat to the tourists. Palanisamy Gounder owns this space of the 50-cent field. The sunflower was cultivated by sowing 2.5 kilograms of seed in 50 cent land. About 150 kilograms of oilseed can extract from 60-litre oil seeds.

Its been almost 20 years since Palanisamy having sunflower farming. Many other farmers who used to cultivate crops stopped a few years ago. From then the oil mill in Goolikadavu stopped functioning. The farmers in this area ned to travel to Coimbatore to extract oil. However, Palanisamy says to a news media that the sunflower cultivation is profitable and planning to expand the farming.
