Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, who is at the forefront of India to fight against COVID-19, took charge as the chairman of 34 member WHO Executive Board on Friday.
The proposal to elect India’s contestant has an executive board was endorsed by the 194 nation World Health Assembly on Tuesday. Post, WHO’s South-East Asia group unanimously decided to elect India’s nominee to the executive board for a three-year term from May.
Vardhan addressed the 73rd World Health Assembly through video conference on Monday. He stated India had taken all the important steps on time to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
