Railways hike fare across network

The Indian Railways on New Year eve announces fare hike across networking, excluding suburban trains effective from January 1, 2020.

Ordinary Non-AC, non-suburban fares are increased by 1 paise per km of the journey, while suburban fares remain the same.

There is a two paise/km hike in fares of express/mail non-AC trains and four paise/km hike in the fares of AC classes.

The fare hike is applicable to premium trains as well.

The order also states, there will not be any difference in the booking fee and superfast charge and the hike in tariffs will not be affected to tickets already booked.

The railway created by the “marginal” increase in fare will be utilised for the modernisation of the network.
