As the yearly pilgrimage season is ritualising progressing at Sabarimala, the Kerala government is hosting the best making it an “eco-friendly”. The Mission Green Sabarimala plan will avoid plastic articles and promotes the use of eco-friendly products.
The use of plastic carry bags and other accessories by the pilgrims had created environmental concerns in the previous seasons at the Sabarimala.
There is a strict enforcing the green protocol at the shrine premises, the mission is implemented by the Suchitwa Mission.
There is a 24/7 counter installed at the Chengannur railway station, where they sell ecofriendly products for the pilgrims.
There is also an exchange of plastic bags into cloth bags “Thuni Sanchi” complementary.
