Lockdown extends in India till May 17

The Ministry of Home Affairs extended lockdown till May 17, while adding a diverse set of relaxations in three different zones. The new guidelines for red, orange and green zones aims to enable the exit of lockdown in a staggered manner while restarting the economy.

The country has a record of 1755 +ve COVID-19 cases. While the tally has risen to 35,365 with 1152 of confirmed death.

The Centre has allowed the stranded people across India to travel back home using special trains and ships. The government also started to plan a post lockdown strategy to revive the Indian economy.

The passenger trains, air and metro service remain suspended until May 17. Hospital OPDs and medical clinics can operate in all zones, the exception of containment zones. While in a few states special train operates to drive migrant workers home.
