It’s International Nurse week, globally the Nurse day is observed on May 12 and National nurse day in the USA is on May 6. Sometimes it is also known as National RN Recognition Day.
On May 12 is the birthday of Florence Nightingale (May 12, 1820 – August 13, 1910).
Florence Nightingale was a renowned English, social reformer, statistician and the originator of modern nursing. She became well-known while taking care of the injured soldiers during the Crimean War.
Nightingale was dubbed “The Lady with the Lamp” because of her habit of making rounds at night.
