India Govt bans public file-sharing site WeTransfer

The Department of TElecommunications (DoT) issued a notice to internet service providers across the country to ban two specific URLs and popular file-sharing website WeTransfer.com

WeTransfer has been one of the easy picks for millions of indiviuals to share files across the globe. The website had gained high popularity during the times of lockdown and before as the site allows to send files up to 2 GN directly to the recipient’s email and paid version holds more capacity.

The government has not informed about the cause of banning the website or what was the intention behind it. Presently most of the leading ISPs have blocked the access of WeTransfer for its users.
