Ginger Garden at IISR Kozhikode establish rare ginger plants from all over the country

Here is something very new for the Keralites, a Ginger Garden has been arranged at the Indian Institute of Spices Research in Kozhikode introducing about 300 ginger plants of 100 species.

Rare Gingers are collection collected from all the states in India can be seen in the garden.

The genetic diversity in the form states like Tripura, Sikkim, Assam and Andaman and Nicobar Islands are highlighting.

There is a lot of medicinal properties included in this research. The collection of ginger in the garden will be an add on to develop better varieties of ginger in the coming days.

The team have issued a QR code option which enables to provide information of each plant. The garden was supported with the financial support of the National Department of Biotechnology and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
