Gandhis stay away while Pranab Mukherjee conferred with Bharat Ratna Award

Many dignitaries in the central government, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu were exhibit when former President Pranab Mukherjee conferred the Bharat Ratna from his successor Ram Nath Kovind at the grand function held in Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday.

According to the ANI reported that Fromper Congress president Rahul Gandhi, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were also not seen at the event, believed to confer India’s highest civilian award on Pranab Mukherjee. Although it was determined that Rahul Gandhi was summoned to the function by Rashtrapati Bhavan, the reason for his absence was not identified until reports last came in. It was insted attended by other members of the opposition party, including Congress leaders Ahmed Patel, Anand Sharma, Bhupender Sigh Hooda, RPN Singh, Janardan Dwivedi, Sushmita Dev and Sashi Tharoor.
