Delhi based Covid-19 patient recover through plasma therapy.
A 49-year-old male patient from Delhi texted Covid-19 positive on April first week, he was admitted at the COVID facility followed with moderate symptoms of history of respiratory issues and fever. His health condition deteriorated during the next few days and wanted external oxygen to manage saturation. Meanwhile, his body developed pneumonia with Type 1 respiratory failure and moved to a ventilator. When the patient showed no improvement, his family asked the team Max hospital for the administration of plasma therapy on the compassionate grounds. First of its kind treatment modality was operated for this condition in India and now he is discharged and told be home quarantined for few more weeks based on the government norms.
There were rules followed by the donor for extracting plasma. According to the hospital doctors, a single donor can give up to 400 ml of plasma, which two lives can be saved as 200 ml is sufficient to treat one patient.
